Data Center POST (DCP) Question: What does participating in PTC’23 mean to your company?

Ivo Ivanov, CEO DE-CIX Group AG (II) Answer: Every year, PTC is the first major highlight event where the industry gathers, exchanges ideas, and comes together to discuss the future of global digital communications. It always is a pleasure to meet colleagues, partners, and friends at PTC. For us at DE-CIX, events like this are very close to our community-driven DNA: Connecting people and networks, building communities and business success together. What really stands out about PTC is the high level and quality of strategic thinking and discussions as well as the great organization and the warm Hawaiian hospitality.

DCP Q: What products/services/locations/other are you excited to share at the PTC’23 conference?

II: We will announce new locations for 2023. This is part of our wider strategy of creating a dense, globally distributed interconnected infrastructure designed to bring data exchange closer to the end users, lowering the latency and improving the performance of digital applications. This is key for businesses, organizations, and users alike. For all of them, latency is the new currency in the digital age.

This is true not only for all of 2023, but also moving forward as we prepare now for the next generation of the Internet – the metaverse or as I call it: immersive internet. This Internet of the future will be an immersive simulation enabled by AI, VR, AR, and all manner of innovations in the realm of sensory perception, remote control, and real-time virtual experience. To enable this kind of experience, data will need to flow seamlessly, efficiently, and very fast – much faster than the blink of an eye and even faster than our brains react – and do so everywhere.

At PTC, I want to discuss how digital infrastructure providers need to evolve to meet these demands. In my opinion, no single digital infrastructure provider can hope to offer all of this on their own. Instead, we all need to collaborate to build out dense and globally distributed interconnected infrastructure, while at the same time offering an increasing array of specialized and customized interconnection services to meet the demands of businesses and organizations across all industries.

DCP Q: As you think about PTC’23, what business goal is most important to you and why?

II A: I’m interested in hearing other opinions on these developments and future trends. But also, always keen on hearing concrete business ideas that bring the industry as a whole forward. My goal is to establish new and deepen existing relationships, business initiatives, and ultimately partnerships with other industry players to build the infrastructure that tomorrow’s digital applications, such as the immersive Internet, require today. From becoming a partner in our cloud ecosystem to having an IX operated as a DE-CIX service location or partnership to interconnecting existing IXs with the DE-CIX customer base and ecosystem – DE-CIX offers a variety of partnership avenues to facilitate the cooperation needed to build this future-proof interconnected infrastructure. So far, I have some exciting talks scheduled regarding new locations and markets around the globe as well as new partnerships and services – stay tuned for news after PTC!

DCP Q: How can people meet or learn more about you at PTC’23 (or after)?

II A: I will be on stage on the afternoon of Monday, January 16, to discuss the infrastructure needs of tomorrow’s digital applications. If you want to connect directly, feel free to drop by the DE-CIX Cabana beside the Tapa pool at the Hilton from Monday the 16th -Wednesday the 18th.

DCP Q: What else would you like for our readers to know that you haven’t already shared about your company?

II A: Over the past years, we have invested significantly in software and automation with projects such as the DE-CIX API and our customer self-service portal. Our goal with these continued investments is to make managing interconnection from peering to modern interconnection services easier for companies and organizations of all sizes, regardless of their internal resources and interconnection knowledge, in 2023 and beyond. This way, we democratize interconnection and bring forward our goal: Seamless interconnection for everyone, everywhere.
