Ireland’s favorable corporate tax and legal system, pro-business approach, renewable energy resources, and commitment to data center energy efficiency make the country a very attractive hosting destination for global operators as well as international biotech, software and pharmaceutical companies. Over the last several years, Ireland has become known as the “Digital Gateway to Europe” and the “Home of the Hybrid Cloud” for companies looking to digitally transform their businesses and bolster their online presence.
The data center industry is being steadily nurtured through the efforts of Host in Ireland, a strategic global initiative designed to increase awareness about the benefits of hosting there. Over the last several months, Host in Ireland has been busy forming strategic partnerships for 2018. Just recently, Host in Ireland announced that Kirby Group Engineering will be a partner this year while Kirby Group Operations Director Mark Flanagan will join its Executive Committee.
Kirby Group Engineering offers mechanical and electrical contracting services in addition to specialist medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) design and construction services across the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe. Kirby, with a turnover of €165m (about $230 million), was founded in 1964. The company now directly employs over 700 highly-skilled professionals.
“As our group of active partners continues to grow this year, we are delighted to welcome Kirby Group Engineering to the Host in Ireland collective,” said Garry Connolly, Founder and President of Host in Ireland. “I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Mr. Flanagan, who will undoubtedly prove to be an immediate asset to our Executive Committee.”
Mark Flanagan also commented on the partnership.
“We are delighted to join Host in Ireland as a strategic partner,” stated Flanagan. “Through this partnership, Kirby will play an active role in strengthening Ireland’s position as an optimum location for digital assets by sharing our in-depth knowledge and expertise in delivering high quality, efficient and resilient mission critical infrastructure.”
