Data Center POST had the opportunity to connect with Cato Lammenes, Vice President of Tampnet Carrier, the world’s largest offshore high-capacity communication network and one of the most robust carriers connecting the Nordics to Europe. Tampnet Carrier is all about connectivity, capacity, speed and milliseconds, providing lightning-fast data transfer without compromising quality and reliability. The company’s unique network connects 30 vital data centers in 12 European and American cities and central hubs. Tampnet Carrier recently launched one of its more formidable projects to date. Read more about it from Cato in his PTC’23 interview below.
Data Center POST (DCP) Question: What does participating in PTC’23 mean to your company?
Cato Lammenes, Vice President Tampnet (CL) Answer: The Tampnet Carrier Team participating in PTC’23 means we can connect with our industry peers. Being a diverse company with operations in both the US and EU, it’s an excellent arena for us to catch up on the latest information, services and products from the industry.
DCP Q: What products/services/locations/other are you excited to share at the PTC’23 conference?
CL A: We are excited to share more information on our latest submarine fiber optic cable project, Norfest. It is set to provide greater capacity, more redundancy and direct routes along the coast of Norway and into Sweden to provide connectivity to the most demanded locations.
Tampnet Carrier commissioned over 700 km of brand-new fiber optic cable to enhance routes connecting the UK to Europe via the Nordics. Tampnet Carrier’s nine landing points are strategically selected to provide flexible and reliable connectivity to the most sought-after PoPs in the Nordics.
We look forward to bringing these opportunities to the US, especially in the Gulf Of Mexico, where we will use our experience in the energy sector to enhance our Carrier services and build the foundations for future US cable projects.
DCP Q: As you think about PTC’23, what business goal is most important to you and why?
CL A: At PTC’23, we aim to increase awareness of Norfest and how it will provide reliable, low-latency, high-capacity connectivity to vital data centers and PoPs, with unique routing options to enhance critical operations. Norway is a leader in green, sustainable data center infrastructure that has garnered international attention. PTC’23 will be an excellent platform to kick off our 2023 plans and share our solutions with the world.
DCP Q: How can people meet or learn more about you at PTC’23 (or after)?
CL A: Anyone who is attending PTC’23 and would like to schedule a meeting with Tampnet, can email: sales@tampnet.com.
DCP Q: What else would you like for our readers to know that you haven’t already shared about your company?
CL A: Tampnet Carrier originated from the offshore network that Tampnet has developed over the years. Stringent availability, security, and quality standards have been the driving force for our International Carrier business. Tampnet is currently connecting the offshore fiber network to shore through several direct routes to Europe and the rest of the world. The demanding offshore security requirements mean that Tampnet Carrier can maintain a higher quality infrastructure more efficiently than our competitors. This has resulted in more available routes in and out of Norway and a robust network that our customers enjoy exclusively.
