Ocean Networks Inc., a privately held developer of submarine cable systems for carriers, content providers and more, signed an MOU for Trans Ocean Network to provide landing party services and infrastructure in the Republic of Panama for the Caribbean Express (CX) submarine cable system. The CX subsea system, announced in February 2021, is an 18-fiber pair subsea system linking Florida to Panama. The agreement allows for Trans Ocean Network to furnish Ocean Networks with cable landing stations, diverse dark fiber routes, cross-connects and other services throughout Panama.
Ocean Networks will be leasing space in the Trans Ocean Network cable stations to land the company’s CX system, designed using Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) technology. Set to be live by the second quarter of 2024, these local landing points will be able to serve Panama connecting Maria Chiquita in the Caribbean to Corozal in the Pacific. The turnkey solution delivered by Trans Ocean Network will provide Ocean Network with bore pipes, cable landing stations, diverse dark fiber routes and all associated services in the Panama region.
