– Suresh Chandrasekaran, Senior VP, North American at Denodo, says:
The data virtualization market is thriving with over two dozen solutions, and more mature solutions available to support very large and complex deployments. According to Forrester Research’s new report: The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Data Virtualization, Q1 2015 enterprise architects are looking at data virtualization to deliver a trusted, real-time, integrated and secure platform to support applications. The report found that vendors in this space have improved their security, scalability, bug data, data discovery, data quality and cloud capabilities and recognized that the data virtualization market is thriving with mature solutions available to support very large and complex deployments.
For those entrenched in the data virtualization sector, this growth is not surprising. Achieving the best outcomes from data analysis is critical in today’s Big Data world, but to achieve these goals organization must have the ability to connect to all internal and external data sources such as structured, semi-structured or unstructured, and combine them into logical, virtual data services. This provides unified access and integrated delivery through a single “virtual” data layer that can publish this data to consuming applications in real-time.
Often considered synonymous with information agility, data virtualization delivers a simplified, unified, and integrated view of trusted business data in real time or near real time as needed by the consuming applications, processes, analytics, or business users. Data virtualization integrates data from disparate sources, locations and formats, without replicating the data, to create a single “virtual” data layer that delivers unified data services to support multiple applications and users. The result is faster access to all data, less replication and cost, more agility to change.
My company (Denodo) was cited as one of the specialized vendors that offer an integrated solution and greater automation, ease of use, and simplicity to speed up the development and deployment of data virtualization. The report notes that Denodo has improved significantly in this Wave, gaining an improved leadership position through continuous product innovation and enhancements. The report also stated that vendors that lack innovation to meet new data requirements are likely to be phased out in this competitive landscape.
“…Denodo is executing well on its vision to support more enhanced connectors and adapters to new sources; improve scale and performance to support complex and real-time analytics; and integrate with leading in-memory computing and cloud platforms,” wrote Noel Yuhanna, Principal Analyst at Forrester and lead author of the report. “Customer references reported that they were using Denodo to support operational, analytical and big data workloads, while others were expanding their deployments to support more data sources, such as social media and deliver a broader 360-degree-view of the business and customer.”
Forrester also recognized Denodo for its ongoing commitment to the industry particularly with the introduction of Denodo Express (DE), the industry’s first no-cost data virtualization tool. Designed to democratize data virtualization, Denodo Express allows data management professionals to start proving the value of data virtualization by generating new data insights in hours instead of weeks. Quick, agile and powerful, DE enables developers and data architects to integrate disparate data, unleash value with agility, and impact business needs and results.
The data virtualization market is heating up as use cases become more mature and broad in scope. With advanced capabilities that support the integration of any data, in any format or technology, located anywhere, including inside the organization, external, in the Cloud or on the Web, data virtualization platforms are designed to scales from the departmental projects to the largest and most demanding enterprise wide deployments. We welcome anyone looking to better understand the concept of data virtualization to download a full copy of the Forrester report and/or register to attend a complimentary webinar featuring Noel Yuhanna on April 14th.
