Q&A with Data Center POST’s Contributing Editor, Kathy Xu
Data Center POST recently spoke with Stephen Belomy, SVP West Coast, and Gonzalo De La Cuadra, Regional Manager for LATAM, of Etix Everywhere, a global data center developer and operator, about its holistic approach to data centers, artificial intelligence, the future path of the company, and what it hopes to accomplish at ITW 2017, taking place May 14-17 in Chicago.
Data Center POST, Kathy Xu (DCP-KX) Question: Tell our readers about your company. What do you do and what problems are you attempting to solve?
Etix Everywhere, Stephen Belomy (EE-SB) Answer: Unlike other wholesale data center providers, Etix Everywhere offers an holistic approach to the data center industry. We finance, design, build and operate smart infrastructures anywhere companies need. This operating mode allows us to offer better costs to our customers and to give them access to cutting-edge technologies.
Additionally, since 99 percent of international data is transmitted through submarine cables, we support the telco industry and the growth of these data pipes by providing smart data centers, landing stations and shelters to carriers.
Unpredictability emerges with the explosion of digitized data, so we want to offer flexible financing solutions to our customers for their infrastructure. We provide several options to fit CapEx or OpEx strategies, but also hybrid solutions like our co-investment model based on a joint venture with a local telco or IT operator.
DCP-KX Q: What new developments are on the horizon for your company?
Etix Everywhere, Gonzalo de la Cuadra (EE-GC) A: We are currently building eight data centers to expand our global network of interconnected data centers. We also have new joint venture partnerships all over the world and are now looking for anchor customers to start the construction of new facilities.
We will launch new hardware and software products in the second half of 2017. Our experience in operating our own data centers gave us the drive to create new products to ease the daily monitoring of mission-critical infrastructures and ensure a greater site security. Stay tuned!
DCP-KX Q: What makes your data centers “smart”? What aspects make them unique from other facilities?
EE-SB A: Our proven design enables us to deploy flexible data centers in 16 weeks. This scalability allows our customers to adjust their IT capacity within no time and without any service level disturbance to meet their growing needs. In addition, we can support the international expansion of our customers by offering IT capacity in our international network at a preferred price.
Moreover, our data centers are technology-oriented. Our goal is to develop fully automated, lights-out, data centers. We dedicate 50 percent of our team and 25 percent of our turnover to develop artificial intelligence that drives the comprehensive operating environment of our data centers.
DCP-KX Q: What do you hope to accomplish at ITW this year?
EE-GC A: Our customers already include several telco operators and we have several ambitious projects in our portfolio, so we would like to take full advantage of ITW and present our projects to the industry.
We also hope to connect with carriers and discuss their current and future needs for innovative infrastructures in the U.S., Europe, as well as in emerging markets in LATAM, Africa and the Middle East.
Seventy percent of enterprises in LATAM are in the early stages of their digital transformation journey, according to IDC. Connectivity is vital for them to build a strong digital ecosystem. ITW will give us the opportunity to discuss their IT infrastructure strategy with LATAM leaders.
DCP-KX Q: If readers want more information about Etix Everywhere, where should they go?
