DE-CIX, one of the world’s leading Internet Exchange operators, recently announced the launch of a new white paper based on its global collaboration with Microsoft for the new Microsoft Azure Peering Service. This white paper offers detailed information about how this peering service supports customers with dedicated, controlled and direct Internet connections to the Microsoft network.

The Azure Peering Service connects customers to Microsoft’s SaaS services, including Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics 365, through the public Internet and via the shortest available path. In turn, this offers customers vital benefits of high availability, low latency and increased bandwidth, and it also delivers network latency telemetry and route monitoring. This helps alert and protect against hijacking, leaks or any Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) misconfigurations. DE-CIX’s global infrastructure ecosystem, creating a business-class interconnection platform for large enterprises and ISPs, supports the improvement of Microsoft’s SaaS services and customers’ experiences.

There is no minimum bandwidth requirement to connect to the Microsoft Azure Peering Service via DE-CIX. The service is available at all DE-CIX Exchanges in Germany with the exception of Berlin, in all Southern Europe exchanges except Palermo, as well as at the New York exchange — wherever Microsoft is connected.

“The new Microsoft Azure Peering Service will minimize latency and maximize the performance for enterprises that connect to Microsoft’s services,” says Yves Pitsch, Principal Program Manager, Microsoft Corp. “DE-CIX is one of the Internet Exchange partners worldwide that could offer us a carrier and data center-neutral interconnection ecosystem that complies with what we need: a high-performance connectivity platform with bandwidth guarantees, secure routing, low latency, and high standards in terms of redundancy.”

“The COVID-19 crisis demonstrates how dependent businesses are on class-A collaboration tools that are running in a secure, reliable and resilient way,” comments Dr Thomas King, Chief Technology Officer at DE-CIX. “DE-CIX is proud to support users of Microsoft SaaS services, such as Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Dynamics 365, with the Microsoft Azure Peering Service. Customers will benefit from low latency, high bandwidth and the advantages that come with bringing excellent network connection closer to the enterprises, and so closer to the end user.”
