Deutsche Börse Cloud Exchange, UCXchange, and 6Fusion share their visions of a commoditized future at Chicago conference
For a significant proportion of leaders in the data center services community ‘cloud’ continues to be a disruption to their business models rather than an opportunity. This year’s DCD as-a-Service conference at the Chicago Hilton on October 27/28th will provide a unique platform where key stakeholders of an increasingly globalized sector come to discuss how they can co-operate and develop even more competitive infrastructure and services to enable the digital economy and to capitalize on the promise of cloud.
One of the featured panels will bring together stakeholders in the vendor-neutral IaaS exchange space, the Deutsche Börse Cloud Exchange (DBCE), powered by technology provider Zimory and 6Fusion, which will underpin the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s offering, who propose two differing systems. Their common goal is to create a secure neutral marketplace for cloud capacity not tied to any particular IaaS provider, a key differentiator from major public cloud players.
“We are excited about the opportunity of sharing the stage at DCD as-a-Service in Chicago to debate the future of our platform with the service provider community,” says Dr. Randolf Roth, CEO, DBCE. “Our long held belief is that cloud exchange platforms will be transformative to the industry, unlocking stranded capacity and creating new business opportunities for the service provider industry.”
Joining Dr. Roth on the panel will be John Cowan, CEO at 6fusion and Adam Zeck, CEO, UCXchange who comments “With the tremendous increase in the demand for cloud computing, we are seeing an evolutionary shift from an allocation based pricing model, “instances”, to a standardized utility-based consumption model. This accelerates the need and adoption of centralized markets for CSP and enterprises to engage in price discovery, trade execution and the consumption of cloud computing. Nowhere is this more evident than in India where ICIx (India Compute Interchange) is playing a major role in helping to create Digital India”.
The event will bring together senior business, operations and technology professionals from the world’s major colocation, cloud, telecoms and other data center and managed service providers to discuss the future of this rapidly growing data center sector. The two-day conference program will run separate tracks on infrastructure deployment strategies, design, and operational efficiency as well as on platform interoperability, investment, and demand-side dynamics. Running alongside the conference are interactive workshops and a series of CxO roundtables.
“We are delighted to announce the participation of so many industry luminaries on this conference program,” said Bruce Taylor, EVP North America, DatacenterDynamics. “B2B conferences are about stimulating the right debates, at the right time and with the right people. A gathering of this type is well overdue.”
The DCD as-a-Service conference program will also address how client demands are changing and what this means for third-party IT service/infrastructure providers and their investment decisions, and examine how the colo sector should create value through growth by either expanding portfolios for homogenous cloud infrastructure or growing additional value-added service provision.
