In a continued effort to strengthen Iowa’s technology workforce, Aureon has awarded $13,000 in scholarships to ten high school students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). The scholarships reflect Aureon’s ongoing investment in local talent development, especially in communities served by Aureon and its Iowa-based telecommunications partners.
Delivered through two programs — the Aureon STEM Scholarship and the Aureon Scholarship for Technology Students — these awards recognize academic excellence, leadership, and community impact. Recipients will attend leading institutions including Iowa State University, the University of Iowa, and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).
“This program reflects Aureon’s commitment to both connectivity and community,” said George O’Neal, CEO of Aureon. “By supporting students who are passionate about STEM, we’re helping build the next generation of Iowa’s innovators and technology leaders.”
Among this year’s recipients is Elliott Eiler of New Hampton, awarded $3,000 to pursue software engineering at Iowa State. Other recipients represent a diverse mix of small towns and metro areas, underscoring Aureon’s wide-reaching support across rural and urban communities alike.
Aureon’s scholarship programs are part of a broader mission to empower future-ready talent and advance Iowa’s role in the digital economy. Applications for the 2025–2026 cycle will open in December.
