Data Center POST recently sat down with Prasad Ravi, Co-Founder and CEO of INOC, at International Telecoms Week (ITW), the world’s largest meeting for the global wholesale telecommunications community. ITW 2016 is currently taking place at the Hyatt Regency and Swissôtel in Chicago, IL from May 8-11, 2016. INOC is a 24×7 Network Operations Center (NOC) and global provider of technology infrastructure monitoring. We discussed with Mr. Ravi cloud computing, new developments at the company and what INOC would like to accomplish at ITW.
Even though cloud computing has had a major impact on the market, it has not disrupted INOC’s business strategy and support model. Mr. Ravi stated, “There have been many changes in the past few years with the massive trend of migrating from internal data centers to the cloud. However, the INOC support environment has not changed. It is still the same applications and data center elements to monitor – they are now just sitting in the cloud.”
Mr. Ravi also discussed how the growing trend of DevOps and the rapidly changing landscape of tools, technologies and processes it created has affected the company. The need to meet more demanding Service-Orientated Architecture (SOA) requirements drove the organization to create a new NOC operations platform that integrates proprietary INOC features as well as many third- party systems and solutions to provide better monitoring and management as well as visibility into customers’ infrastructure.
During the conference, INOC also announced the launch of a new Network Operations Center (NOC) dedicated to supporting optical network infrastructure, which ensures higher quality support for optical networks and enterprises and communications service providers with complex requirements. The NOC is located in Madison, Wisconsin.
“Optical support is something we’ve been providing since day one, but our environment has grown to the point where we feel that deploying a dedicated optical NOC will enable us to serve our customers even better,” Mr. Ravi said.
A key driver of that growth for INOC has been the Data Center Interconnect (DCI) market. A new class of DCI equipment from major vendors is enabling terabits of easily provisionable capacity between data centers in metro markets. INOC optical network services support the optical and IP platforms of a variety of equipment manufacturers, including Cisco, Ciena, Juniper, Infinera and ADVA.
INOC also achieved ISO 27001:2013 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS). The company is one of the few ISO-certified NOCs in North America. This certification, given after completion of a formal audit process, shows that INOC has met rigorous international standards in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of customer data, systems and infrastructure being monitored and managed by its NOC.
At ITW this year, INOC is looking to capture the mindshare of customers and reach more international audiences.
