Angola Cables has announced the establishment of TelCables Europe, its new European subsidiary. This strategic expansion, coupled with a groundbreaking alliance with Start Campus, marks a pivotal moment in intercontinental connectivity.
A New Digital Bridge
TelCables Europe is set to become more than a subsidiary; it is poised to act as a digital bridge connecting Portuguese-speaking countries across the globe. The company’s offerings will span a wide range of digital solutions, including:
- Peering services
- Cloud solutions
- Interconnectivity options
These services will cater to customers throughout Europe and the Mediterranean, enhancing the region’s digital infrastructure.
Plugging into Europe’s Largest Connectivity Hub
A key component of this expansion is TelCables Europe’s agreement with Start Campus to establish a new point of presence (PoP) at the SINES DC facility. This move is particularly noteworthy because SINES DC is Europe’s largest and most sustainable data center development and is rapidly becoming one of the most important continental exchange points in Portugal and Europe.
Samuel Carvalho, Chief Marketing Officer for Angola Cables, emphasizes the strategic importance of this location: “Strategically, it makes sense for us to have a presence and PoP in Europe as we have easy access to EllaLink and our Monet and SACS cables, taking data traffic to and from Europe to the US, South America and Africa.”
Expanding Global Reach
The establishment of TelCables Europe significantly enhances Angola Cables’ already impressive global network. From their new PoP at SINES DC, the company will be able to:
- Connect customers to over 66 data centers worldwide
- Access more than 40 PoPs in Europe
- Connect to over 400 Clouds through their 100G scalable, ultra-low latency global network
This expansion not only strengthens Angola Cables’ position in the market but also provides businesses with alternative and diversified redundant routing options to Africa, the Middle East and the Americas.
A Gateway to the World
Angola Cables CEO Angelo Gama views TelCables Europe as a logical step in the company’s international expansion. With Portugal serving as the gateway to Europe, and its growing importance in the submarine cable landscape, this move positions Angola Cables to play a dynamic role in strengthening connectivity between Africa, Europe and the rest of the world.
Looking Ahead
As we move towards 2026, Portugal is expected to become a hub for 22 submarine cables, connecting to 124 cable landing stations worldwide and establishing direct connections to 75 countries across five continents. The establishment of TelCables Europe and its alliance with Start Campus represents a significant leap forward in intercontinental connectivity. As businesses increasingly rely on efficient, low-latency international connections, Angola Cables is positioning itself at the forefront of this digital revolution, bridging continents and bringing the world closer together through advanced digital connectivity solutions.
