DCP Q: At PTC’24 there will be a few sessions focusing on the status and opportunities in the telecom market. From telecom equipment, services, and wireless communication, which area of the industry does your company focus on, and where do you see the industry heading in the next 5-10 years?

RP A: The telecom industry has undergone significant changes in the past few decades, with the advent of new technologies and increasing demand for wireless communication services. However, there is no denying that the industry will continue to evolve and transform over the next 5-10 years.

One of the main drivers of change in the telecom industry is the ever-increasing demand for faster and more reliable internet connectivity. With the rise of new technologies such as 5G, consumers and businesses alike expect seamless, high-speed internet access at all times. This means that telecom companies will have to continuously invest in infrastructure upgrades and innovations to meet these demands.

Moreover, with the growing popularity of the Internet of Things (IoT), connected devices will exponentially increase in the coming years. This will result in a massive amount of data being generated, requiring efficient and robust network infrastructure to support it. Telecom companies will need to adapt and develop new solutions to handle this influx of data.

Another trend that is likely to shape the future of the telecom industry is the consolidation of services. With the rise of digital platforms, consumers increasingly rely on a single provider for all their communication and entertainment needs. This means that telecom companies will have to collaborate with other providers and offer bundled services to stay competitive.

In addition, the telecom industry’s role in artificial intelligence (AI) and automation is expected to increase. AI-powered solutions can help network operators monitor and manage their networks more efficiently, leading to cost savings and improved customer satisfaction. Furthermore, virtual and augmented reality technologies are expected to become more mainstream, creating new opportunities for telecom companies to provide innovative services.

Lastly, the increasing focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility will also impact the telecom industry in the coming years. As consumers become more conscious of their carbon footprint, they expect telecom companies to adopt eco-friendly practices and invest in renewable energy sources to power their networks.

DCP Q: At PTC’24, on January 23, 2024, the Infrastructure Builders panel will discuss how the world will look in 2033 (10 years), when we are one-third of the way through the digital century. How are you approaching projects and planning for future growth with the shifting utilization of digital infrastructure?

RP A: As we approach this future, it is important for us as data center builders to constantly evaluate and adapt our approach to projects. The utilization of digital infrastructure is ever-shifting, and we must be prepared for the changes that come with it.

At this moment, one of the most significant trends in digital infrastructure is the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). It has become a key driver in revolutionizing the way data centers are built, operated, and managed. As an AI-optimized data center builder, we have been at the forefront of this wave and will continue to be in the years ahead.

AI has the potential to greatly impact the way data centers operate. From power and cooling to sustainability and design, every aspect of data center management can benefit from AI technology. With its ability to analyze and process vast amounts of data in real-time, AI can help optimize operations and improve efficiency. This not only leads to cost savings but also helps reduce the environmental impact of data centers.

Our approach to projects must incorporate this trend and ensure that we are constantly evolving our strategies to stay ahead of the game. We must anticipate future needs and be flexible enough to adapt as new technologies emerge. By doing so, we can ensure that our data centers are equipped to handle the demands of the digital age.

Moreover, as an AI-optimized data center builder, it is our responsibility to not only stay ahead of the trends but also set new standards for sustainability and efficiency. Our goal is to create data centers that not only meet current needs but also have a positive impact on the environment. By incorporating AI technology and constantly seeking new ways to optimize our operations, we are setting a precedent for future data center builders.

In conclusion, as we look towards the future and embrace the digital century, we must remain vigilant in our approach to data center projects. By prioritizing AI technology and continuously evolving our strategies, we can ensure that our data centers are equipped to handle the constantly changing landscape of digital infrastructure. Let us continue on this path and be leaders in shaping the future of data centers.

DCP Q: What core markets do you operate in and what are the key opportunities / challenges in these markets and how are you adapting to address them?

RP A: Our company is located in Portugal, and we are proud to build a green giant ecosystem. This demonstrates our commitment to providing top-notch services to our clients and our dedication to innovation and advancement in the technology sector.

In addition, we are also working closely with partners to build what is known as the “Atlantic Hub.” This project involves the creation of a submarine cable corridor that will connect the continents of Europe, Africa, and the Americas. This ambitious undertaking will solidify our presence in these critical markets and bring about numerous opportunities for growth and collaboration.

As we continue to expand our reach and capabilities, it is crucial that we start thinking about the larger ecosystem as a whole. This presents a unique challenge and opens up new possibilities for partnership and innovation. By adapting to this changing landscape, we can position ourselves as a leading player in the global technology market. So not only are we focused on our individual markets, but now we must think about how our actions will impact the broader interconnected world of technology. This requires us to constantly stay ahead of the curve and actively seek new growth and development opportunities. Through our efforts in building the Atlantic Hub – in collaboration with EllaLink and AICEP Portugal – and other initiatives, we are adapting to address challenges and setting the stage for future success in this ever-evolving industry. So let us continue to push boundaries and shape the future of technology together. Let us embrace change, think globally, and work collaboratively to build a brighter future for our company, our partners, and the world.  As we move towards this vision of interconnectedness, we will undoubtedly encounter obstacles and challenges. But by remaining resilient and proactive in our approach, we can turn these challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation.
