Nigeria is emerging as a central hub for data activities in Sub-Saharan Africa because of its rapidly growing market. The world’s largest technology companies are entering Africa because of this opportunity, but local infrastructure capable of supporting their needs will allow these giants to significantly impact their markets. The scale and connectivity required to fulfill such a task causes many data center operators to struggle bringing business domestically. Kasi’s upcoming data center is located in Lekki Penninsula II, Lagos, Nigeria. This facility is designed to accommodate the significant space and power needed to host large enterprises and hyperscalers in the region. Power requirements have presented a challenge for other operators because hyperscale deployments require multiple megawatts to support their activities, however Kasi’s design creates a scalable power system capable of being flexible to meet such demands, and does so sustainably. 

At the groundbreaking event, which took place on April 19, 2022, Kasi CEO Johnson Agogbua opened the Lekki site for construction by showing his appreciation for Lagos’ role in creating its robust digital ecosystem: “Kasi’s mission of building a digital platform to accelerate cloud and interconnect people, enterprises and governmental institutions in Nigeria and across Africa started here in Lagos.” In attendance were the Special Guest of Honor, Executive Governor of Lagos Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), Mr. Uche Orji, who showed their support for Kasi’s efforts to bolster local markets. When completed, Kasi’s Lekki data center will be one of the largest campuses in Africa, standing on an impressive 4 hectares of land. The data center will use its $250 million of investment channels to provide space and scalable, green power to bring business locally.
