Vijay Vusirikala, an esteemed figure in network engineering and optical technologies, has joined the Telescent team. A Legacy of Innovation
Currently the Vice President of Global Network Engineering at a stealth AI infrastructure startup, Vusirikala has consistently been at the forefront of technological advancements in data center and backbone networking. His remarkable 14-year tenure at Google saw him spearhead critical initiatives, including Optical and Submarine Technologies, Open and Disaggregated Transport, and Network Automation. These efforts were pivotal in constructing and optimizing one of the world’s most expansive network infrastructures.
Beyond Google, Vusirikala’s career spans influential roles at Infinera, Motorola, and Sycamore Networks, where he significantly contributed to the development of core, metro, and access networking products. His active participation in the academic and professional community, including advisory roles at the University of Maryland and the Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) conference, further underscores his status as a thought leader in the industry.
A Wealth of Expertise
Vusirikala’s accomplishments are reflected in over 75 publications and 17 patents, marking him as a prolific innovator in the field. With a BS in Electronics and Communications Engineering from IIT Madras and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, his educational background lays a solid foundation for his professional achievements.
