The Pacific Northwest is quickly becoming a strategic digital global infrastructure hub, and Toptana Technologies (Toptana) is helping lead the way. In partnership with Assured Communications (Assured) and MOX Networks (MOX), Toptana is driving the development of a new East-to-West dedicated fiber route to strengthen regional connectivity and support the growing demands of the digital economy. The project is designed to deliver long-term resiliency, capacity, and access to communities and businesses across the region.
Connecting Coast to Corridor
The new build will link Toptana’s Ocean Shores Cable Landing Station in Washington with key digital corridors in Seattle and Hillsboro, Oregon. The growth expands on the now completed North-to-South fiber system, with MOX Networks as well, to deliver a high-capacity, scalable network designed to address growing demand from cloud platforms, AI applications, and edge computing.
Project Leadership and Collaboration
Assured Communications is supporting the project as Toptana’s program manager, helping guide the effort from planning and design through construction and deployment. Working closely with Toptana and MOX Networks, Assured is contributing technical expertise and project oversight to bring the route to completion.
“Assured is honored to lead this transformational effort,” said Tim Parker, Chief Growth Officer at Assured Communications. “Together with our partners, we’re enabling the Pacific Northwest to compete on a global scale for digital investment, while delivering lasting benefits to the communities we serve.”
A New Era for Ocean Shores
At the hub of this expansion is the Ocean Shores Cable Landing Station, the first of its kind built in Washington in more than 25 years. Located on the Olympic Peninsula, the station will be a critical interconnect point for subsea systems. With significant route diversity and geographic advantages, Ocean Shores is emerging as a new strategic hub for digital infrastructure development.
“With this expansion, we’re continuing our mission to bring meaningful connectivity to the Pacific Northwest, starting with our Indigenous-led infrastructure at Ocean Shores,” said Jeff Capoeman, Chairperson of the Board of Toptana Technologies. “This route not only supports current demand but also positions the region for long-term digital growth.”
MOX Networks’ Continued Partnership
MOX Networks, a lead partner in the initiative, constructs, maintains, and operates the network infrastructure between the Ocean Shores landing point and the existing routes to Seattle and Hillsboro. Their continuing relationship with Toptana and Assured reflects a shared commitment to building strong, diverse fiber routes across the region.
“MOX Networks is proud to collaborate once again with Toptana and Assured,” said Allen Meeks, President and Chief Executive Officer of MOX Networks. “This project underscores our commitment to building new and diverse fiber routes that enhance interconnection and regional diversity for our customers.”
A Shared Vision for the Future
This expansion represents a shared effort to deliver inclusive, open, and future-ready infrastructure for people and prosperity. Assured, Toptana, and MOX are not just meeting existing demand, they are preparing the ground for tomorrow’s digital economy. Through this new route, the Pacific Northwest is better positioned to attract global investment, support mission-critical connectivity, and empower communities with access to world-class digital infrastructure.
This is more than a fiber build. It is a bold step towards long-term digital transformation, driven by companies that believe in the strength of purpose and the value of connection.
