At this year’s event, several technology-focused interactive roundtables will take place, offering the opportunity to learn about topics such as: fueling greater demand for broadband; challenges and opportunities with middle-mile, regional and long-haul networks; and rethinking current data center architecture. One of the first roundtable sessions, titled, “Driving Broadband Demand: The Apps and Services Redefining Network Capacity,” will take place on Monday, October 24 at 2:00 pm. This session will address how applications are continuing to drive exponential increase in internet demand, how edge computing impacts demand and how to tackle and remove traditional bottlenecks in Tier 1 data centers. Joining the panel will be Michael C. Morey, President & CEO of Bluebird Network, alongside Ben Edmond, CEO & Founder, Connectbase and George Woodward, President & CEO, Trilogy
Day two of the event will feature a roundtable titled, “Optimizing ROI on New Funding: Challenges and Opportunities for Middle Mile and Regional Carriers,” which will take place on Tuesday, October 25 at 2:00 pm. This session will focus on how to get the maximum return on your network builds. Discussion will center around how to scale and leverage funding into new markets, as well as the challenges and opportunities for middle mile and regional carriers. Kurt Van Wagenen, President and CEO of FirstLight Fiber, will join the panel alongside Francisco Maella, CEO, Dobson Fiber and Jim Morozzi, President and CEO, DQE Communications.
Also taking place on day two will be, “Why it’s Time to Rethink Data Center Architecture,” which will kick off at 3:00pm, moderated by Ilissa Miller, Co-founder, Independent Data Center Alliance.This roundtable will focus on whether there is a need to rethink core equipment architecture, what architecture changes may be required to reduce space and power needs, and the pros and cons of expansion into new data centers versus modernizing existing hardware. The panel will include Anthony Kewitsch, Co-Founder and CEO of Telescent, and Nancy Casados, CEO, 2210 Cortez.
