Modular Containment

Caroline Haley, Manager of Client Relations, Milldam Public Relations, says:

When Upsite Technologies, a pioneer and industry thought leader specializing in data center airflow management, approached Dave Martinez of Sandia National Labs for testing the new AisleLok Modular Containment components in his data center, he gladly obliged. “I always like to be aware of new solutions that enter the market, and see how they can solve my problems differently than what’s currently available.”  After AisleLok testing, Sandia ordered several pairs of doors and began using them on hot-spot problem areas throughout the room. The solution is now commercially available.

Originally unveiled in April at Data Center World in Las Vegas, Upsite’s AisleLok Modular Containment has successfully improved the airflow conditions at a number of early adopter data centers.  Since no custom construction is required, the sites have experienced no disruption, while saving valuable time.  Additionally, when compared to traditional containment offerings, AisleLok’s low cost and highly flexible offering enables data center managers to easily scale for full implementation across the entire computer room.

AisleLok Modular Containment is a highly flexible, re-deployable, and self-installable containment solution that:

  • Can be applied to either hot or cold aisles
  • Can be self-installed in minutes
  • Can quickly and easily be reconfigured to new aisles without third party labor for installation
  • Provides easy access to all equipment and infrastructure as needed

The two main components of the AisleLok Modular Containment are the Rack Top Baffle and the Bi-Directional Doors, with an optional Rack Gap Panel. The Rack Top Baffle can be purchased in either a 30° angle (from horizontal) position or in a vertical 90° angle (from horizontal) position. Both components attach directly to the racks magnetically. The open-sealing design prevents aisle over-pressurization, and its elegant appearance brings professional aesthetic to the facility.

Lars Strong, Senior Engineer at Upsite Technologies reports:

“AisleLok Modular Containment has been designed specifically to improve the airflow performance in both existing and new data centers without disruption. We are delighted with the initial installation results of AisleLok Modular Containment, which have led to significant improvements in cooling capacity and a savings in energy consumption.”

Upsite continues to successfully engineer, design and manufacture award-winning, patented solutions and believes that sharing our knowledge and science around airflow management supports the data center industry through open best practice discussions. Upsite’s airflow management solutions are sold throughout the US, EMEA, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.
