Data Center POST interview with Joris te Lintelo, Director maincubes

By Contributing Editor Michael Egan

Joris te Lintelo is Director of maincubes, a European data center provider headquartered in Frankfurt am Main. The company provides customers with accessibility to a network of highly available data centers throughout Europe, enabling colocation in conjunction with secure ecosystems to enable the connected world. The company’s current locations include Frankfurt (FRA01) and Amsterdam (AMS01), which together provide over 8,000 square meters of space and over ten megawatts of critical IT power.

In advance of ITW 2019 taking place in June in Atlanta, Data Center POST sat down with Joris to talk about the progress maincubes’ has been making and how it designs data center solutions to overcome industry challenges.

Data Center POST, Sarah Chamberlain (DCP-SC) Question: What does maincubes do and what problems are you solving?

Maincubes, Joris te Lintelo (M-JL) Answer: maincubes specializes in data center and colocation services. We are striving to connect the world and empower businesses’ digital future with secure, efficient and user-friendly solutions.

DCP-SC Q: What milestones did maincubes achieve in the past year and how will these developments help maincubes keep up with the demands of the quickly growing and ever-changing telecommunications industry?

M-JL A: This past year, maincubes opened our (greenfield) data center in Frankfurt am Main (FRA01) in Q4 2017. In Q3, 2018, maincubes opened our refurbished and upgraded data center in Amsterdam (AMS01).   Our Data Center in Frankfurt is a 6 MW facility with more than 45,000 sq.ft. of whitespace. Our Amsterdam location is a 4.7 MW facility with more than 47,000 sq.ft. of whitespace.

These  state-of-the-art facilities are flexible and very efficient and have proven to be of interest to both national and international customers. Recently, for example, Daimler (Mercedes Benz) decided to choose maincubes for their colocation services. Right now we  are currently in the process of expanding our footprint in Europe.

DCP-SC Q: What is maincubes looking forward to accomplishing over the next year? The next 3-5 years?

M-JL A: In the next three to five years, we look forward to a national and international footprint expansion.

DCP-SC Q: What do you think is the greatest challenge in the industry and how are you working to overcome it?

M-JL A: The biggest challenge is keeping up with the exponential growth in IT services. The limitations of power and available land will put pressure on the availability of data center services. By proactively investing in new facilities, we try to keep up with the increasing demand for colocation services.

DCP-SC Q: What new developments are on the horizon for maincubes?

M-JL A: We’re looking forward to developing our ecosystem in the coming years.

DCP-SC Q: Thanks so much for chatting with us. Joris and the maincubes team will be attending ITW 2019 in Atlanta from June 23-26, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency and Marriott Marquis hotels.  To learn more about maincubes, please visit www.maincubes.com.
