TL;DR
- Expanded network reach: Enables service providers to deliver private Layer 2 Ethernet connectivity beyond their existing fiber footprints without additional fiber construction.
- Automated connectivity: Pairs with the MaiaEdge PBC 2000 to establish encrypted Ethernet connections over available fiber, dedicated internet access, satellite and other IP transport.
- New service opportunities: Supports cloud on-ramps, distributed AI access and additional services through existing customer connections.
- Faster customer onboarding: Reduces manual network configuration for service providers, data center operators and AI infrastructure companies.

MaiaEdge has introduced its PBC 100 Series, compact customer premises equipment (CPE) designed to help fiber operators and service providers extend private Ethernet connectivity beyond their existing fiber networks. The new solution enables operators to reach off-net customers without additional fiber construction or manually negotiated network-to-network interfaces (NNIs).
Part of MaiaEdge’s Path Border Controller (PBC) product family, the PBC 100 Series works alongside the company’s PBC 2000, deployed at an operator’s point of presence (PoP), Metro Ethernet edge or data center. Together, the devices enable automated, encrypted Layer 2 connectivity across available fiber, dedicated internet access, satellite and other IP transport.
Built on MaiaEdge’s SD-Ethernet architecture, the PBC 100 Series extends automated path provisioning directly to customer premises. A centralized interface simplifies routing complexity and provides operators with visibility across the connection, reducing the time typically required to establish services from weeks or months.
“For decades, where your fiber ended, your service opportunity ended with it,” said Abilash Menon, CEO and Co-Founder of MaiaEdge. “The PBC 100 Series breaks that link. Providers can reach off-net customers without building fiber or negotiating a new NNI, then turn that connection into private connectivity, cloud access, AI infrastructure, and more. We’re giving operators a way to expand their addressable market without expanding their physical network.”
The PBC 100 Series also enables operators to introduce additional services through the same customer connection, including cloud on-ramps and distributed AI access. For data center and AI infrastructure operators, the technology can accelerate tenant onboarding by reducing manual network configuration while creating opportunities to deliver services through their own networks or MaiaEdge-enabled partners.
The launch expands MaiaEdge’s Path Border Controller portfolio, allowing operators to extend private Ethernet services directly to customer locations while maintaining their existing physical network infrastructure. The first device in the series, the PBC 124-C, is available now.
