Ilissa-FeatImg-660x330Recently, Data Center POST spoke with Ilissa Miller, Founder and CEO of iMiller Public Relations (iMPR), about the Marketing Speed Roundtable and “Ask the Experts” panel she will be leading at HostingCon Global 2016, the largest gathering of the hosting and cloud services community in the world. This year’s event will take place July 24-27 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. During our Q&A with Ilissa, we discussed the importance of engaging media and analysts at conferences and events in order to ensure your organization’s message is heard, as well as what she hopes to accomplish at HostingCon.

Q and A with Data Center Post’s contributing editor, Kathy Xu

Data Center POST, Kathy Xu (DCP-KX) Question:  What does HostingCon mean to you and your business?

iMiller Public Relations, Ilissa Miller (IMPR-IM) Answer: HostingCon Global attracts telecommunications and technology professionals throughout the hosting and cloud services community to network with industry peers and explore the technologies and trends impacting the cloud and hosting ecosphere. The conference will serve as a platform for thought-provoking, education-based presentations and panel sessions in addition to an exhibition hall featuring today’s most innovative hosting and cloud services technologies.

DCP-KX Q: What will you be discussing during the roundtable and panel you will be leading?

IMPR-IM A: During the “Ask the Experts 2” panel, I will share my marketing expertise in the telecom and technology sectors. At the Marketing Speed Roundtable, “How to Leverage Media at Conferences and Events,” attendees will be divided into small groups and meet with five individual workshop leaders for substantive dialogue on such topics as branding, thought leadership and content marketing in the telecommunications and technology sectors. For my roundtable, I will lead a discussion of the strategies and tactics a company can apply to engage media representatives and analysts attending conferences to ensure they convey their firm’s core offerings in an accurate, effective and compelling manner.

Adopting a proactive approach to media and analyst relations at trade shows, conferences and events is the difference between an organization’s message being heard and making an impact or getting drowned out in the din. The nature of the symbiotic relationship is that the media needs to be informed of a company’s products and services, while companies need to reach out and effectively nurture relationships with these market influencers to ensure their stories rise clearly above the competing voices in the room.

As my esteemed communications and PR colleagues realize, companies and media attending industry events have an interdependent relationship. What information companies share with the media and other key influencers, whom they share it with, and how they share it are all equally important.

DCP-KX Q: What do you hope to accomplish at HostingCon Global this year?

IMPR-IM A: The hosting, cloud, data center and data connectivity industry is booming right now.  The combination of all types of data and the ability to store and access it is morphing at rapid speeds.  I am looking forward to learning about new companies, solutions, exploring key trends and topics as well as meet with leading industry thought-leaders.  I expect NOLA HostingCon to be a highlight event of the year.

DCP-KX Q: Is there anything else you would like to add?

IMPR-IM A: There is a lot to experience at HostingCon, for sure. Companies that are interested in joining the marketing roundtables and panels will gain invaluable insight, so please check out the following sessions in which I will be participating.

  • Marketing Speed Roundtable on Monday, July 25 at 1:30pm
