EdgeConneX® announced this week that its Portland Edge Data Center® (EDC) has been awarded Open-IX OIX-2 certification.
OIX-2 certification confirms that Portland EDC’s infrastructure reduces complexities and enables the implementation of business-critical environments, content platforms and international IP networks.
What’s more, the Portland EDC, a Tier-III-rated facility, is the first and only OIX-certified data center in the Pacific Northwest. The facility also offers access to a robust cloud ecosystem for direct on-demand access to top cloud providers, infrastructure monitoring, the latest interconnection and performance measurement technologies, network access and managed services solutions.
By using the cloud ecosystem, EdgeConneX customers can easily and securely launch, manage and grow public, private and hybrid cloud environments. Along with OIX-2, EdgeConneX also possesses PCI-DSS, SOC 2-Type 2 and HIPAA certifications.
As Clint Heiden, chief commercial officer at EdgeConneX explained following the announcement, OIX-2 certification significantly strengthens the facility’s offerings.
“We’re excited to have earned Open-IX certification at our Portland Edge Data Center, which demonstrates that EdgeConneX meets the highest physical and operational standards,” he stated. “As the first provider in the Pacific Northwest to design its data center to adhere to OIX specifications, achieving this stringent global benchmark reinforces that the Portland EDC delivers the performance, resiliency and reliability necessary to interconnect networks.”
Open-IX Association Chairman William Charnock also acknowledged his enthusiasm for EdgeConneX. “We are delighted to announce EdgeConneX as the first Open-IX-certified data center in the Pacific Northwest,” he said. “This certification acknowledges EdgeConneX’s ongoing commitment to reducing the complexity that restricts interconnection in Tier II markets.”
