Q&A with Data Center POST’s Contributing Editor, Kathy Xu
Data Center POST recently had the opportunity to speak with Brian White, Director of Strategic Alliances of TrendPoint. We discussed Mr. White’s upcoming participation at Data Center World, taking place April 3-6 in Los Angeles. We also tackled topics such as insights about the data center industry and future developments for TrendPoint.
Data Center POST, Kathy Xu (DCP-KX) Question: Tell our readers about your company. What do you do and what problems are you attempting to solve?
TrendPoint, Brian White (TrendPoint-BW) Answer: TrendPoint provides innovative power meters that enable customized solutions for critical facilities. Our platform approach to the product set minimizes integration costs, start up time and operational expenses. Analytics provided by our meters enable our clients to better manage power consumption, maximize uptime and allocate energy costs.
DCP-KX Q: What do you attribute to your company’s success?
TrendPoint-BW A: Our ability to engineer an effective, customized solution that is tailored to our client’s requirements and budget constraints.
DCP-KX Q: How do you see the data center industry evolving? What do you think is the greatest challenge in the data center industry?
TrendPoint-BW A: The rapid evolution of converged infrastructure on the IT side is changing the requirements being placed on critical facilities. More emphasis is being placed on eliminating upstream costs than ever before. This is a big opportunity for innovative companies to disrupt the status quo to the benefit of end users. The biggest challenge in the industry right now is educating the market place. Technology is evolving faster than ever, however, regulatory and traditional methods of operation remain the roadblock to realizing the benefit and savings of innovative solutions.
DCP-KX Q: What new developments are on the horizon for your company?
TrendPoint-BW A: TrendPoint continues to advance our support of next generation communication protocols, such as support for IPV6, application layer support and IoT protocols. We are also working on neutral leak detection and other advanced analysis tools. Our hardware will continue evolve to support even more customized installations that enable our clients to leverage competitive advantages in the market place.
DCP-KX Q: What would you like to accomplish at Data Center World?
TrendPoint-BW A: We are excited to see our clients and partners, and look forward meeting new ones. TrendPoint will be using new equipment to demonstrate many of our advanced features live in real time.
