DC BLOX, a provider of multi-tenant data centers that deliver the infrastructure and connectivity essential to power today’s digital business, recently announced its achievement of a Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF) from Uptime Institute — the global authority for industry tier certification in data center design, build and operations — for its Birmingham data center.  As the first multi-tenant data center operator in Alabama to achieve this certification, this step demonstrates DC BLOX’s commitment to ensuring that previously underserved customers benefit from the reliability and connectivity services of a world-class, state-of-the-art data center.

“We’re thrilled to achieve Uptime Institute’s Tier III TCCF certification, which supports our core commitment to serving locally as a trusted data center partner in the Southeast,” comments Mark Masi, Chief Operating Officer of DC BLOX. “In the past, businesses located in smaller cities or underserved markets have had a difficult choice to make: either they commit to long drives to colocation data centers in major cities, settle for less reliable local facilities or build their own data centers. We’re proud to offer organizations a secure, reliable data center option locally to help them focus their resources and accelerate their growth.”

DC BLOX also offers a carrier-grade, resilient, high-capacity private network that connects its data centers across the Southeast to ensure customers can comprehensively support their growth, achieving digital transformation goals with a local data center partner that delivers optimized availability and resiliency.

The process of achieving a TCCF certification includes undergoing live system demonstrations under real-world conditions in order to validate the data center environment’s performance. The award is based on the review of multiple mechanical and facility criteria in accordance with Uptime Institute’s Tier Standard: Topology — the globally recognized benchmark for data center reliability and effectiveness. Receiving this TCCF certification builds on DC BLOX’s history of dedication to reliability and uptime. All of DC BLOX’s data centers have been built to a Tier III standard of design, and the company has also previously achieved Uptime Institute’s Tier III Certification of Design Documents for its Birmingham data center.

All of the DC BLOX facilities in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Huntsville and Birmingham are strategically located in underserved markets. This allows the company to support the needs of enterprise businesses, government entities, content providers and managed service providers whose digital transformations and business success depend on high-quality data center and connectivity offerings. Each facility is interconnected with DC BLOX’s high-speed fiber-optic network, which further supports business continuity, disaster recovery, content delivery, hybrid cloud and large-scale storage scenarios. DC BLOX also ensures availability and reliability by providing power availability and temperature and humidity Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure that equipment housed in a DC BLOX data center is kept cool, dry and safe.

“We congratulate DC BLOX on their achievement,” said Christopher Brown, Chief Technical Officer, Uptime Institute. “The Tier Certification of Constructed Facility Certification ensures that the facility has been constructed as designed, capable of meeting the defined availability requirements. The Tier III TCCF award is concurrently maintainable, requiring no shutdowns when equipment needs maintenance or replacements and no impact to IT operations. Additionally, we applaud DC BLOX’s strategic position of locating in underserved markets in the Southeast.”
