Gartner recently published its Magic Quadrant for Workload Automation, which ranks the providers in the space. As perhaps the most interesting story in this year’s quadrant, for the first time, Gartner placed UC4 Software in the Leaders quadrant, moving past IBM and CA Technologies.
This recognition caps an 18-month period of particularly strong growth for the company, now with more than 2,000 customers, and comes on the heels of a Q3 2011 report from Forrester Research that pointed to UC4 as the most complete IT process automation (ITPA) provider in the market.
Industry awareness and recognition has traditionally been dominated by the Big Four Systems Management vendors, however, UC4 is now positioned clearly as the leading challenger brand with superior vision and innovation as well as an integrated product for all types of data center automation. This flies in the face of the large, expensive and un-integrated suites of products from the Big Four. As the leader in IT process automation, UC4 is well-positioned to serve as the key enabler to companies with DevOps, IT-as-a-Service, Cloud and Big Data initiatives.
As background, Gartner’s Magic Quadrant report researches and evaluates workload automation providers in terms of their “completeness of vision” and “ability to execute.” Leaders in the workload automation market combine insightful understanding of the realities of the market, the ability to influence the market’s direction, the ability to attract an industry following and the capacity to lead the market. Leaders have the proven ability to deliver on their vision and to support their customers through periods of stability, as well as periods of change or economic hardship. The leaders control most of the market’s business activities and are the primary influencers of market evolution.
