Amsterdam, The Netherlands – April 29, 2021 – Immersion cooling specialist Asperitas has announced its membership renewal for the global technology community, Open Compute Project (OCP) strengthening their position as thought leaders and contributors to high industry standards.
Asperitas, a member of OCP since 2017, has been leading the immersion cooling activities within the Advanced Cooling sub-project. The Dutch cleantech company has also exemplified their leadership position in the Community through active contributions in the OCP Global Summit and subsequent Tech Week in 2020. The year also saw the launch of the new AIC24 21” immersion cooling hardware solution as well as the strategic partnership with global fluid developers and process oils specialists Shell.

Further bolstering industry high standards has been the OCP Accepted™ recognition for the Asperitas Open Cassette product in 2020. Developed by Asperitas, the Open Cassette can house any IT spec that is compatible with the OCP chassis, as well as different kinds of chassis. The flexible design allows brand-dependent equipment to be used in immersion with optimised liquid flow capabilities. The chassis, which has 15”, 19” and 21” options as well as 1U, 1OU and 2U height options, has been developed for single-phase immersion, but other cooling solutions have not been ruled out. In short, the product exemplifies the OCP principles of efficiency, scale, openness and impact.
Speaking further on the Asperitas involvement with OCP, Rolf Brink, Asperitas CEO said: “Our contributions to OCP are very important and the Open Cassette does not stand alone. We have provided other material specifications and have been the driving force behind several papers such as Design Guidelines for Immersion Cooled IT Equipment and Immersion Requirements. These documents form the first and only industry references for IT equipment OEMs to build their portfolios for immersion. To this point, every OCP specification which relates to immersion cooling recognises the Asperitas name as a main contributor or author. We are very proud of all this work and we take this position very seriously in our efforts to spearhead a global transition to immersion technologies.”
The OCP Platinum membership renewal will exemplify the Asperitas high caliber impact through further written contributions, active involvement in workstreams and participation at events such as webinars, technology days and global summits, further demonstrating themselves as thought leaders within the datacentre industry.
