The announcement of the latest iteration of G-Cloud – G-Cloud iii – saw Ark selected to provide its high security, low carbon solutions as part of the framework.
The news came as the Public Expenditure Cabinet Committee’s confirmed its agreement to put in place a Public Cloud First mandate for central government, a move welcomed by the company.
Ark has been selected to supply specialist Cloud Services (under Lot 4) allowing public sector organisations to purchase data centre services with the minimum of disruption, quickly and easily via the CloudStore.
Stephen Hall, Sales & Marketing Director of Ark, said: “We are naturally looking forward to supporting public sector customers who are seeking expertise not only operation excellence, but highly secure, low carbon and cost-effective data centre and cloud solutions through the G-Cloud framework.”
Ark’s data centres, known as Arks, are modular, tailored or bespoke facilities with infrastructure solutions to meet the exact requirements of the customer. The business was established in 2005 and currently operates the UK’s most efficient data centre facilities across two campuses in the South of England. Headquarters is in Corsham, Wiltshire and the other location is Farnborough, Hampshire.
Following recapitalisation of the business last year, Ark has seen the appointment of a new senior leadership team, with Huw Owen as CEO. It comes during a time of continued growth in personal and corporate data storage, big data analytics, cloud computing and technology services, particularly where efficiency and security are key requirements.
