In a move that marks a major step forward for digital infrastructure across the Pacific, fifteenfortyseven Critical Systems Realty (1547) and Harrison Street have announced their acquisition of DRFortress, Hawaii’s leading carrier-neutral data center. This strategic partnership is set to bolster Hawaii’s role as a vital hub in the global data ecosystem, expanding access to high-performance interconnection solutions for businesses and networks across the region.
DRFortress has long served as a cornerstone of connectivity in Hawaii. With more than 800 racks and a 65,000+ square foot facility in Honolulu, it has earned its place as the state’s largest carrier-neutral data center and a gateway for digital traffic flowing between the U.S., Asia, and beyond. The acquisition by 1547 and Harrison Street not only reinforces DRFortress’ leadership position—it also sets the stage for its next phase of growth.
“Hawaii serves as a strategic gateway for connectivity in the Pacific, and DRFortress has established itself as a vital interconnection hub for businesses and global networks alike,” said J. Todd Raymond, CEO & Managing Director of 1547. “By bringing DRFortress into our connectivity-focused platform, we’re expanding customer access to cloud providers, submarine cable systems, and international markets—while maintaining its carrier-neutral foundation and continuing to scale to meet growing demand.”
The move follows GI Partners’ majority acquisition of DRFortress in 2020. Under GI’s stewardship, the data center nearly doubled its colocation capacity, reinforcing its prominence in Hawaii’s digital infrastructure landscape. The existing leadership team—including co-founders Fred Rodi and Rosa White—will remain in place under the new ownership, ensuring continuity for customers and partners.
“This next chapter with 1547 and Harrison Street represents a great opportunity for DRFortress and our customers,” said Rosa White, Co-President, CFO, and co-founder of DRFortress. “With added scale, investment, and expertise, we’ll be able to expand our services and reach while staying true to our mission of delivering world-class infrastructure solutions to businesses throughout Hawaii.”
The acquisition reflects a shared vision between 1547 and Harrison Street for building out resilient and future-ready digital infrastructure. “Investing in essential digital infrastructure that meets the growing demand for secure, high-capacity interconnection is core to our strategy,” said Michael Borchetta, Managing Director at Harrison Street. “DRFortress plays a significant role in supporting businesses across Hawaii and the broader APAC region, and we look forward to working alongside 1547 to expand its services.”
Mark Prybutok, Managing Director and Head of Data Infrastructure at GI Partners, echoed that sentiment, noting, “Fred, Rosa, and the entire DRFortress team have built an exceptional platform, and we are confident that 1547 and Harrison Street are the right development partners to lead its continued success.”
With DRFortress now part of their portfolio, 1547 and Harrison Street have strengthened their positions as key players in advancing global connectivity. This acquisition signals a bright future for Hawaii’s digital economy and a strong foundation for scalable, secure interconnection throughout the Pacific region.
