LONDON11 will offer new and existing customers 5,500m2 of efficient, flexible and scalable data centre space

London – 13th October 2020, VIRTUS Data Centres (VIRTUS), London’s leading data centre company and part of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Group, announced today that it is embarking on further expansion of its West London campus in Slough. With LONDON3, LONDON4, LONDON9 and LONDON10 already live, or in the final stages of construction, VIRTUS has accelerated this latest project to meet ever-growing customer demand.

The construction of LONDON11 will add more than 13MW of new capacity within 5,500m2 of net technical space to VIRTUS’ inventory in this highly desirable location.  With the opening of LONDON11, the VIRTUS Slough campus will provide a total of over 77.5MW of power and 32,150m2 of net technical space to VIRTUS’ expanding customer base.  LONDON11 will go live in November 2022, with the data centre offering flexible and scalable colocation provision to hyperscale and enterprise customers. Furthermore, VIRTUS is seeing significant interest in this new data centre with reservations already being placed.

The addition of LONDON11 to the Slough campus increases VIRTUS’ total data centre estate to more than 178MW and c. 77,000 m2 across its UK locations; this includes the four data centres within VIRTUS’ Stockley Park Campus and makes VIRTUS Data Centres one of Europe’s leading data centre providers.

LONDON11 will be the latest in VIRTUS’ portfolio of 11 UK data centres to be built to the highest specifications by a specialist in-house design and construction team. The data centres are built to comply to both VIRTUS’ and the industry’s stringent environmental commitments, including state-of-the-art cooling systems, and utilise a variety of sustainable building materials throughout the construction process. Powered by its partnership with Bryt Energy, VIRTUS is also able to commit to using 100% truly renewable, carbon zero energy from wind, hydro or solar sources throughout its estate.  LONDON11 will be certified to seven international ISO standards, as VIRTUS plans to rollout ISO 22301 and ISO 45001 certifications to all live facilities in 2021, adding to the already existing five certifications: ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and ISO 20000-1. This will be a testament to VIRTUS’ commitment to sustainability and best practice service delivery and will ensure that LONDON11 is one of the most certified data centres available.

Neil Cresswell, CEO of VIRTUS Data Centres commented: “The start of building LONDON11 is a significant milestone in a busy year for VIRTUS. Throughout the COVID-19 epidemic our focus on operational excellence has enabled us to provide safe, reliable service to our valued customers, from our five live data centres, whilst also safely bringing two additional new data centres live in the past six months. An additional three sites are scheduled to go live in the next 12 months, followed by LONDON11 in 2022.  We continue to see increasing demand for quality colocation at scale in the London data centre market – driven by remote working, accelerating digital transformation and Brexit, amongst other factors. We have worked hard in the last five years to provide this continuous runway of state-of-the-art, well-connected data centres – in key UK locations where there is a limited supply – stretching out years into the future, and with the backing of STT GDC, we will continue to support our customers as they scale and grow.

As well as being one of London’s leading colocation providers, VIRTUS Data Centres is part of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres’ (STT GDC) global platform with presence in five geographies. With more than 110 data centres and over 1.2GW of IT load, the group provides purpose-built and carrier-neutral facilities that focus on energy efficiency and flexibility to meet customers’ requirements, leveraging local expertise in each geography to ensure all data centres are developed and operated to a consistent and stringent standard.
