Data Center POST Interview with Douglas Loewe, Vice President-International, Interxion

Douglas Loewe, Vice President-International for Interxion, joined the company in 2013 bringing extensive senior management experience in the ICT sector that included roles as Vice President, Global Accounts EMEA for UUNET, Managing Director for CompuServe Network Solutions, and President of Global Enterprise Markets for Cable and Wireless. Previously, Douglas was VP and Managing Director EMEA and Asia for IPASS, and VP and Managing Director EMEA for Rackspace. Interxion is a leading European provider of carrier and cloud-neutral colocation data center services with 49 facilities in 11 countries across the continent.

Data Center POST recently sat down with Douglas to discuss Interxion’s suite of services, how the company is preparing for the advent of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as its Channel Partner program.

Data Center POST, Kathy Xu (DCP-KX) Question: Please tell our readers about Interxion, what you do and where.

Interxion, Douglas Loewe, (I-DL) Answer: Interxion provides data center services with flexible space and power options so connectivity, cloud and consumer platform and enterprise companies can easily scale as their businesses. Moreover, as the interconnection hub for Europe’s leading companies, Interxion brings together the widest mix of connectivity and cloud service providers to help companies connect to their partners, suppliers and end users.

DCP-KX Q: How is the company preparing for the GDPR and other privacy changes underway throughout the world?

I-DL A: As enterprises solve for moving applications as close to their end users as possible in order to maximize the performance of the applications, by coming to Interxion they have the added benefit of being able to simultaneously address data sovereignty, privacy, and meet regulatory requirements such as the GDPR by ensuring French data resides in France, German data resides in Germany, etc., in 11 key European markets.

DCP-KX Q: What does Interxion’s channel program offer that our readers should know about?

I-DL A: Interxion arms our channel partners with unique insight and guidance on the various nuances of the European market, including the financial community in London and Zurich, the multi-cloud hub in Frankfurt, and connectivity-rich Amsterdam. We also offer guidance concerning the key gateway markets such as Stockholm to reach Russia; Vienna to reach all of Eastern Europe; and Marseille for the Middle East, Asia, and Africa; and the business hubs of Paris, Dublin, Copenhagen, Dusseldorf, and Madrid.

DCP-KX Q: Anything in the Interxion pipeline that would interest our readers?

I-DL A: We have announced expansion programs in each of our markets to meet the increased demand for carrier-dense and cloud-rich data centers. This, in turn, is further attracting even more carriers, content providers and enterprises alike who are seeking a true partner who can solve for their business needs in one or more markets today and then for future expansion in additional key European geographies, thus aiding both our channel partners and customers’ success.
